In an embarrassing moment over the weekend, the Verizon Wireless Support Customer Service Twitter account tweeted out advice that seemed ironic given Verizon’s latest media releases. In the now deleted tweet, Verizon suggested to turn on the LTE option under network settings to save on battery life. At first glance, it appears to be advice in good faith, but an “LTE” option would turn off 5G, the much-heralded new network that Verizon has trumpeted during every press release. Verizon even managed to work in an advertisement during Apple’s latest iPhone release event back in the fall of 2020. It appears that Verizon has caught wind of the offending tweet and has deleted it but we have the screenshot below.
