With a $482 million investment over the next decade, the United States Postal Service is overhauling its iconic mail truck fleet with Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDVs). Oshkosk Defense will be manufacturing between 50,000-165,000 over the next decade, and the first are expected to arrive on mail routes in 2023. The NGDV fleet will be a combination of fuel-efficient trucks and battery-electric powertrains. The NGDV will have increased cargo space, 360 degree cameras, advanced braking and traction control (for that rain, sleet, and snow part of the USPS creed), as well as automatic braking and front- and rear- collision avoidance systems.
