Lina Khan, legal scholar, nominated to FTC

Latest FTC nomination hints at future regulation of Big Tech

This morning, Politico reports President Biden will nominate Columbia University legal scholar, Lina Khan, to the Federal Trade Commission. Her nomination, along with Tim Wu, also of Columbia University, hints at a future move towards regulating the big tech companies such as Facebook, Google, Amazon, as well as other well-known companies. Specifically, it’s believed that there will be a focus on anti-competitive laws the tech giants may have violated over the years to cement their status and products. It appears that the Biden administration has made antitrust a key element of its agenda with additions to the NEC like Tim Wu.
