Apple announces new 24″ iMacs with M1 chip

Apple has announced new 24″ iMacs available in a number of colors. They are significantly thinner than the previous generation iMacs and run on Apple’s M1 chip. The new iMacs feature a new 1080P Facetime webcam, a six speaker system, upgraded mic, and 4.5K screen resolution. The M1 chip allows for an instant on feature and blazing fast performance. We’ve seen the performance of the M1 chip on the updated MacBook Pros and we are excited to test out the chip on a desktop. One example they give is the ability to edit a stream of 8K without dropping a frame. There’s a new magnetic power connector with a small power brick that sits on the floor. The power brick also features an ethernet port. The keyboard features a number of new keys such as an emoji key as well as a dictation key and a touch ID key. The new keyboards come in a range of colors to match your iMac and also have matching Magic Mouse and Trackpad options. The new iMacs are available in seven colors and will be available for sale on April 30th starting at $1,299.
